Certified Tesla Powerwall Installers
Solar energy is a great resource, and solar panel systems are incredibly useful. However, solar panel systems only work at creating energy when there is sunlight available. At night, or in blackouts, your solar panel system will not create any energy for consumption. This means you will have to pull energy from the grid or wait for the morning when sunlight returns.
To address this problem, there are battery storage solutions. Solar battery storage works to store solar energy for later use. Excess energy that is harnessed during the day will be kept on reserve in a battery storage device. Then, when the sun has gone and you need more energy, your battery storage solution will deploy the reserved energy to power your home or business.
One of the most popular battery storage solutions is Tesla Powerwall. As a Tesla partner, Bay Solar Group has Tesla Powerwall Certified Installers on-site to assist in any Powerwall battery storage needs. Powerwall is a significant advancement in the solar industry, and extremely user-friendly. It comes with an easy to navigate app and three operating modes. The operating modes can be chosen by the customer, so that you have a customized energy solution that works for you.
Benefits of Solar
Going solar is a great decision, and the benefits of solar energy are numerous. The two greatest advantages of solar energy are the environmental and financial benefits. Most people choose to go solar for one or both of those reasons.
Solar energy maintains an indefinite cycle of clean energy consumption. With solar panel systems, you won’t need to rely on the electrical grid for the majority of your energy needs. This drastically decreases the number of fossil fuels being deployed into the environment. As you are now creating and consuming your own renewable energy obtained from the sun, you won’t be adding any extra stress to the grid or increasing the demand for fossil fuels. Therefore, going solar means you will significantly lessen your carbon footprint. As the environmental crisis continues to grow, the positive environmental impacts of solar usage should not be overlooked. Solar energy is one of the most renowned and notable ways to help our climate heal.
Solar panel systems are also financially beneficial. In using solar panels, you will no longer have a high electric bill each month. You will use solar energy during the day, and will only need to pull energy from the grid at night when there is no sunlight. If you’re very invested in helping the environment and having no electric bill, you can invest in a solar battery storage solution. Battery storage solutions store energy harnessed during the day for use at night or in case of emergencies. With a battery storage solution, you won’t need to pull energy from the grid as you’ll have a reserve of clean energy instead.
Additionally, many state and government officials are incentivizing solar energy usage for its positive environmental impact. As more homes and businesses switch to solar, our carbon footprint is significantly reduced. To encourage solar usage, there are some available financial incentives and rebates. These financial incentives serve to lessen the initial, upfront cost of solar panel installation. Our consultants will assist you in the application process for these financial programs. We can tell you what financial credits you are applicable for, then help you begin the application process.
Net Metering Credits
Another solar incentive is net metering credits. With solar energy systems, you may produce more clean energy than you can use. If you don’t have a battery storage solution or don’t want to store excess energy, your overflow energy will be routed to the grid. The grid is the shared electrical power system. Therefore, by adding power to the grid, you’re supplying energy for others to use. To reward you for your energy addition, you can receive net metering credits. These are credits that will be applied to your utility bill, thereby lowering your payment cost for your energy addition to the grid.
Solar panels are an investment, as their lifespan averages around 25-30 years. You’re going to have the panels for a long time, so it’s important to understand the real-world application of solar panel benefits. If you’re looking for a way to lower your electric bill while simultaneously helping the planet, then going solar is right for you!
Solar Efficiency Factors
Solar panel systems are an investment that should be carefully considered. When you decide to go solar, make sure that you choose a reliable and trustworthy installer. Solar panel installers can be the difference in efficiency for your system.
At Bay Solar Group, we know how to install panels to maximize efficiency. Our team knows the best direction for panels to face and the most effective tilt angles. These factors will increase the production and value of your system. The better your energy production, the more savings for you.
A Quick Guide to Understanding Clean Energy
Solar panel systems are a new and constantly evolving form of technology. As a result, it can be hard to understand the inner workings of solar panel systems. You might be wondering how solar panels can power your home while only using energy from the sun. That’s an important question, and one that you should fully understand before going solar. Here’s a quick overview of how solar panels work.
Solar panels are made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells. PV cells harness sunlight energy. The energy from the sun is absorbed through the panels as direct current (DC). However, DC energy is not the form of energy that powers your home. To create usable electricity, you will need to convert the DC energy harnessed from the sun into alternating current (AC). To do this, you will use either an inverter or a power optimizer. These tools work to convert DC energy to AC, then route the AC energy to your home or business. AC energy is the form that will power your appliances and supply electricity.
Solar panel installers will handle the installation of inverters or power optimizers, but as an educated consumer, it’s important that you also understand how these tools work.
We’ve been in the industry long enough to know that cost concerns are one of the main reasons people hesitate to go solar. While we understand that the initial upfront cost of solar panel systems can be quite high, we have some good news! There are many financing options available to help offset the initial cost.
Many people finance their panels, paying them off in installments on a regular basis. This is a manageable financing option that allows for solar ownership without the high upfront price tag. Another option is leasing solar panels. If you choose to lease solar panels, you will only pay a set, regular fee rather than the entire cost of installation. Leasing solar panels is a great option for those who aren’t quite sure they’re ready to commit. However, there are some cons to leasing panels. If you lease solar panels, you will not technically own them. Therefore, you will not be applicable for any available incentives or rebates.
If you’re not sure which financing option is right for you, don’t worry! We’ve got a team of consultants who can go over the details and help you determine what will work best for your specific situation.
The Solar Installation Process
If you’re considering solar panels, you might not know what to expect once the solar process begins. The solar panel installation process is relatively straightforward and easy to follow. Our experienced team of solar panel system installers will handle every step of the solar panel installation process. From start to finish, we’ve got you covered.
Each installation is unique and specific to your situation, but there are general steps and procedures in place. To give you an idea of what the solar installation process is like, see below the normal procedural outline:
To install solar panels, the roof must be measured and marked. Solar panel installers will follow the measurements and markings when installing the panels. To continue the solar panel system installation, roof mounts will then be installed. Solar panels will be fixed to the roof mount – securing them for future use. It is important that solar panel system installers attach roof mounts correctly and to code to prevent damages or leaks.
The next step is to install rails along the roof mounts, upon which solar panels will be fixed. Rails serve to evenly disperse the stress and load of solar panels along the roof mounts. They also create an elevation between the panels and the mounts. The elevation allows for increased air circulation. Therefore, you will have a longer lifespan for your system—improper air circulation results in heat degradation. Once the rails are put in place by the solar panel system installers, a copper wire is used to join all of the rails and junction boxes. The wire acts as a single point to measure electrical energy.
Continuing the solar panel installation process, microinverters or power optimizers will be attached to the railing. Then, it’s time to install solar panels. The panels are positioned on the rails by the installer and then securely fastened into place. Once the panels are safely installed, the rails will be cut and shaped to the correct size.
After the panels are in place, the roof’s wiring is connected to either an AC cut-off switch or DC cut-off switch. The type of switch will depend upon the wiring previously chosen: microinverter or power optimizer.
Once the switches are installed, they will need to be connected to the electrical main panel through breakers. This panel will need to withstand the new electrical load and any potential additional breakers. If the panel cannot withstand this new electrical load, it may need to be replaced or upgraded.
Once the solar panel installers finish with the physical installation, the city will need to inspect the work. They will be checking for proper construction and installation to ensure safety. Once the city provides its approval, a net meter will be installed. Net meters can be installed by Bay Solar Group or, if preferred, directly from the utility company. Net meters work to credit solar panel users for their overflow solar energy that is added to the electrical grid rather than consumed.
The final step in the solar panel installation process is to schedule a utility inspection. The utility company will look over solar, electrical, and grid connectivity. Once satisfied, the company will provide permission to operate (PTO), and the system can be officially put to use.
